For a category that has been around for a while, even before PolyTools was even a thing of course. There is surprisingly LITTLE in the grand scheme of things in this space. Every once in a while I'll see a project come up on a sub-reddit, or something on indiehackers, etc. However they don't always amount to much.

Habit tracking tools only really work IF You USE them.

I want to note that I haven't used all of these. My rankings therefore are more decided from price, feature set, usefulness, ease of access, and other people's ratings too.

#5 - Productive App

Sometimes it truly is a matter of having a good interface, and it seems to me that this one makes it easy to use.

While still making it easy to use.

#4 - HabitNow for Android or Streaks for iOS

This section could be expanded more, but I wanted to include some exclusive apps for each device. As I know especially on Android, but even on iOS, that there are a wide variety of habit trackers.

Some of them are just crapware, but some of them are actually good apps. However it can be tough to find the best one. I can't say for sure if these are the best, but they were what came up a number of times in my search!

#3 - Way of Life

I like the elegance of this one, although I wish their website was a bit more substantial. I had to go into the app store in order to see what the app actually looked like.

If you have multiple habits, this one might be one the better ones for seeing it more holistically. Some apps have too much interface, and that makes it hard to have a lot on screen.

#2 - AtomicHabits App/Habitify

Two tools that I felt made it hard to decide, as I felt they had relatively equal value. Maybe Habitify with slightly more, as it has been around. Thus if you wanted the ranking that would be slightly higher.

They both have a lot to offer, and instead of reading about me talking about them. I just highly suggest you click the links (not affiliate), and see if they would work for you. That is what I hope comes from this post, that you find a tool for you.

Atomic Habits has the legacy from the book at least too, so you can have a multi-faceted approach to you building new habits.

#1 - Habitica

I feel a bit conflicted on making this best one, as I couldn't get into it. Despite the fact I love RPG's, and I've known about it maybe the longest.

It does tend to hit the top of the lists for a lot of outlets and people. However the complexity is higher. If you really want to gamify your life, and perhaps take your habits more seriously than you ever did before. Then level up with Habitica!

Alternatively here is one for Notion:

Bonus: Using Obsidian Plugins for this Purpose

I've had mixed results with using Obsidian. Maybe because it takes a bit to set up something like this, but if you truly want an all in one productivity solution. Then Obsidian is the closest you are going to get, at least once you've built it out.

There are a variety of plugins and workarounds, and they can be very visual which is really nice for someone like me that is motivated by that.
