You would think that by combining "writing book" tools, and "consuming book" tools, that this category would have more to offer.
However the book tool landscape is really bare surprisingly. I mention this because I want to know what I am missing, so if you have an interesting book tool you use, then please let me know!
For now these are the various tools I thought were most useful in the tag!
#5 - Flipbuilder
A digital book creator, and it hosts your book online as well. Which can be a great way for independent writers to get their book out there. If they don't want to use Kindle especially.
I can't speak on the quality of it, although I can see this use case being helpful for a lot of people.
#4 - Hardcover App
Think of it as a more hardcore goodreads, and you can keep track of the books you are reading at a time.
They built the tool to be an alternative to GR, as they had discontinued the API, and Hardcover wanted to replace that need. It seems to me that they did that well.
#3 - Book AI Chat
Throw it pretty much any book, and you can chat about the book in multiple ways. Now I am sure there are many tools like this, that are essentially GPT wrappers. However this is the one I came across, and it seems capable.
If you know of a better one, then do let me know!
#2 - Lulu
A print on demand for creators and book authors, for you to self-publish your works online or in store. I don't normally include a site's information in the post, but I think these bullet points are super:
- Publish or Print a Book
- Ecommerce Solutions for Print-On-Demand
- Automated Book Printing & Fulfillment for Your Business
Basically taking on all of the tedious part of ecommerce and book sales from you, and giving you the focus to simply market the book. Very much like Printify or Fourthwall for clothing merch, but for book writers.
#1 - Ebookany
I would say that this is an even better version of Flipbuilder.
"Easily convert any online content(blogs, links, RSS, YouTube videos, Google docs, Notion pages) into a convenient ebook format."
I could see myself using this at some point when I finish my books finally.
