In this vast creator economy landscape one trend seems to be ever increasing. That being the arrival of the IN HOUSE creator, or someone who is making the content for a brand/business. Akin to if they were doing it on their own, but instead are a full time employee.
Now I've been making content for over a decade.
- I started blogging in 2013-2015, reignited it in 2017.
- Learned about social media marketing and SEO way back then, and ever since.
- Started a podcast in 2018, and interviews in 2020.
- Which lead me to feeling better on camera, and started YouTube in 2018.
- In addition joined musically, before it became tiktok, in 2018.
In fact I've joined most of all social media platforms around the time they came out. FB 2009 (only a little late), snapchat in 2011, Twitter 2010, Vine, tiktok, threads 3 weeks after it came out, and more.
All of this is being shared because I want to work for you! My niche, or rather "meta-niche" of Polymathy is great, and I do not regret picking it one bit. It is however a "slow growth" topic. Making it harder to expand my following, and more importantly to this specific circumstance: monetize in order to pay bills.
Hence why I shifted focus to my content creator and gaming channels, as they are more fast growth topics. I think that has been a success, as the creator channel is roughly only about 2 years old, and yet has garnered 600k views.
Why am I wanting to work for you, and why should you hire me?
It comes down to progression... I want to be able to pay my bills without worry, and to be able to work in a new city. For the last half a decade I've been trying to move to Austin (or Singapore more so), and recently I had the joy of going up to NYC for Podcast Movement. I can see myself living in a variety of places, and so I am fully open to the idea of relocation. I've even have been downsizing for the last couple years.
Places I'd Live off the top of my head:
- NYC
- Austin
- Los Angeles
- SF
- Singapore
- I'm open to other ideas if someone comes along somewhere else.
Why do I want to work, and not for myself?
To be honest I don't really see a job getting in the way of my creative. I've held 2-3 part time jobs at once a number of times, then I'd come home to doing more content. Those jobs equaling probably 1.5 full time jobs worth of work anyways.
Since I have the skills you are needing, I want consistent income, and I can adapt to a variety of needs. It seems like a no brainer to me, or a win-win.
Why should you hire me specifically?
Now I know there are a lot of creators out there, and some may have bigger followings. Perhaps focused more on one content type in particular. However in my professional opinion a modern creator has a vast content ecosystem.
They are not beholden to simply one content type/format, and they are engaging with their audience across platforms. This is actually what I talk about on my creator channel, and interviewing other creators.
All six types are skills you can use, and I'm only really "missing" one of them. Of which I have been acquiring. Those being: written/audio/video, as well as short/long/LIVE. Now I've done probably 65 or so livestreams, and I've been a guest on live podcasts before too. Although that is probably my only weak skill out of the bunch (again I'm working on improving that).
Maybe I should note that technically "Paid" content is sort of a seventh type. Although it is not something I've had much experience with.
Conversely, if you look at all of the others...
- I have done nearly 1000 blog posts at the time of this writing.
- Hundreds and hundreds of videos.
- Hundreds and hundreds of podcasts actually as well.
- THOUSANDS of short form videos
- Which was BEFORE using OpusClip to repurpose all of my long into short form. Since then I've probably made around 5000 more.
- My video content ranges from 8min to 30min for solo, and 40-90min for interviews.
What I am saying is that my experience is quite expansive, and I have put in a ton of reps as a creator.
How can I help you?
From managing your YouTube channel, to creating a full on content production database in notion to organize the team. I really love planning, and I can come up with ideas very easily. My challenge for myself has been going out of my way to execute on those ideas.
Other roles I've applied for that I think would be helpful to know: youtube producer, content producer, livestream producer (I know all the software), content repurposer, founder led content, etc.
In fact I really like the idea of founder led content especially, I think I could manage the company's content, but through that also share out the founder in it. Combined with their personal brand.
All in all, there are a lot of paths we could go down, and I am curious to see what you come up with too!
What can a Generalist do?
As I alluded to in the previous section I could do many angles to the content production. I'm not a fan of ghostwriting, and my copy writing is situational. However writing a newsletter is definitely up my alley for example.
Podcast wise I think most people reading this would start with video first. Whether it is pre-recorded or live is fine with me.
Leaving long form and short form video. I think that this is where I can really help plan out our channels trajectory. Make sure it stays consistent, and use my wide ranging skill sets in a lot of ways.
Perhaps my skills could even lead into other areas, such as ai, or assisting a CEO.
